Upgrade Cloud Management Platform

Upgrade a Cloud Management Platform instance

The Cloud Management Platform (CMP) upgraders are distributed as .tgz archives, available from the CMP UI and the CloudBolt Support Portal.

The upgrader is designed to persist your customizations and configuration; however, new features may require post-upgrade configuration.

A CMP upgrade comprises the following steps:

  1. Download the upgrader.
  2. Run the upgrade script.
  3. Check the version.

Prerequisites

Before upgrading:

  • Review the release notes
  • Ensure you have sufficient disk space for the upgrade
  • Backup your CMP instance and any external databases

Download the upgrader

Download the upgrader using one of the following methods.

From the UI

  1. Go to All Admin.
  2. Select Version & Upgrade Info.
  3. Select Download X.X.X upgrader to Server

From the Support Portal

  1. Download the latest release’s upgrader file from the Support Portal.
  2. Copy the upgrader to /var/tmp on your CMP instance.

Run the upgrade script

Run the CMP upgrade script from the command line.

  1. SSH into the CMP instance as root

  2. Go to the tmp directory:

    cd /var/tmp

  3. Untar the upgrader:

    tar xzf cloudbolt_upgrader_v<version-number>.tgz

  4. Go to the upgrader directory:

    cd cloudbolt_upgrader*

  5. Run the upgrade script:

    ./upgrade_cloudbolt.sh

Check the version

Verify the upgraded CMP version.

  1. Go to Admin > Version & Upgrade Info.
  2. Under Currently Installed, review the Version number.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during the upgrade, SSH into the CMP instance as root and inspect the logs.
