Resources

A resource is a deployed item that Cloud Management Platform (CMP) manages, from a set of servers to a storage bucket

Resources come from blueprints. A blueprint that names a resource type produces a resource of that type each time it is ordered. A blueprint with a discovery plugin can bring existing resources under CMP management. To see them, open Resources > All Resources in the navigation bar, or pick a single type from the same menu.

What a resource holds

A resource’s detail page collects what CMP knows about it: its parameter values, the jobs that have run against it, and its history. A Servers tab appears once servers have been built for it, and a Sub-Resources tab lists any resources deployed beneath it.

Any action a user can perform on a deployed resource beyond viewing it is a resource action. For example, a blueprint that deploys a database can offer buttons to back it up or resize it.

  • Blueprints: Build, discover, manage, and tear down the resources a blueprint deploys.
  • Discovery/sync configuration: Bring resources that already exist under CMP management.
  • Schedule power on/off: Power a resource’s servers on and off on a schedule.
  • Servers: A resource’s servers are managed the same way as any other server in CMP.

Resource types (XaaS)

A resource type is the category of items a blueprint deploys, such as Storage, Database, or Cluster

Resource attributes

An attribute is a parameter value shown on a resource’s Overview tab, such as the port a deployed website listens on

Auto scaling

Add and remove servers in a resource’s tier as its CPU load changes

Resource expiration

A resource can have an expiration date, and a built-in rule decides what happens once that date has passed
