XenServer
A XenServer resource handler connects Cloud Management Platform (CMP) to a XenServer host or pool
2 minute read
XenServer is a legacy technology and does not appear in the technology picker. You cannot create a new XenServer resource handler. Existing handlers continue to work, and you can still edit their credentials and settings.
Credentials for an existing handler
To review or update the connection, open the handler from Admin > Resource Handlers and select Edit Credentials. CMP checks the connection when you save, and Verify Connection on the Overview tab checks it on demand.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Protocol | HTTPS or HTTP. |
| IP address | The XenServer host, or the pool master for a pool. If you give the address of a pool member, CMP connects to the pool master instead. |
| Port | The API port. Defaults to 443. |
| Account username | The XenServer account CMP authenticates as. |
| Password | The password for that account. If the password vault feature is enabled, this field offers Locally Stored or Vault Managed. Select Vault Managed to read the secret from a configured vault provider. See Use password vaults. |
| SSL Verification | Whether CMP verifies the host’s SSL certificate. Applies when Protocol is HTTPS. |
Static IP addresses
A server provisioned from a XenServer handler can be given a static IP address. The image it is built from must have XenServer tools installed, because CMP applies the address through them. For how static addressing works in CMP, see Networks.
