Connect AWS with Terraform
Beta, enabled on request. Organizations that cannot use CloudFormation can configure the AWS management account with a CloudBolt-provided Terraform module, downloaded from the AWS connection form, and connect it with Connect Terraform Deployment. The option is off by default; contact CloudBolt Support to enable it for your organization. The module covers the management account only, so the CloudFormation StackSet remains the recommended path. See AWS onboarding with Terraform.
Non-billing connections
When adding an Azure or GCP connection, choose Non Billing Data to read inventory, recommendations, and commitments without creating cost exports.
Custom Columns
For MSP parent organizations: the Custom Metrics page is now Settings > Custom Columns. Columns are defined once for the organization, ordered by drag and drop, and no longer live inside billing rulesets. Choose which sub-organizations receive each column. The formula editor adds string functions.
Sub-Org Columns
For MSP parent organizations: a new Settings > Sub-Org Columns matrix controls which FOCUS columns each sub-organization receives.
FOCUS 1.2 fields
FOCUS 1.2 columns, such as SKU meter, pricing currency, and billing account type, are available in Cost Explorer, reports, and exports. Settings > Connections now shows the FOCUS version each connection delivers. See Cost Explorer.
Fixed-percentage cost allocation
Cost allocation rules can split shared cost by fixed percentages across two or more targets, totaling 100%.
Scheduled report preview and test email
Before scheduling a saved report for email delivery, preview each format and send yourself a test email. Reports too large for the chosen format arrive as CSV. See Saved Reports.
Branded summary report exports
Summary report PDF and PowerPoint exports have a new layout. On white-label domains, they use your brand color and logo. See Summary Report.
Background exports
Exports from Cost Explorer and the Detail Report run in the background, so you can keep working and download the file when it is ready. Emailed reports include a secure download link. See Export reports and data.
Report filters and editing
Filter tags, virtual tags, and Kubernetes labels to see whether they are present, for example, to find untagged resources. Edit the name, description, and tags of any saved report type.
Pending invite links
Admins can copy a pending user’s invite link from User Management to share it directly. See Manage users.
August 2026
White Label
MSPs on a white-label domain can set their logo, brand color, and an optional dark-mode color under Settings > White Label, and publish their own Terms and Privacy Policy, which users accept at login.
Billing ruleset drafts and rule preview
For MSP parent organizations: new billing rulesets start as drafts. The Rule preview data set in Cost Explorer shows a draft’s effect on real costs before you select Promote to Live. See Billing Rulesets.
Organizations
Root organizations can exclude billing data from the platform. The organization list is searchable, and sub-organization scope rules accept account values that do not yet have billing data. See Organizations.
Reporting
Filters can match empty (N/A) values, the Detail Report adds a Total row, and saved reports can be renamed from the library.
July 2026
Budgets
Set hierarchical spending targets for your organizations and track budget-versus-actual performance, with rollup budgets, month-to-date proration, and variance tracking. Budgets appear in the sidebar and are managed under Settings > Budgets. See Budgets.
GCP commitments, recommendations, and inventory
GCP now has its own pages under Commitments (Committed Use Discount coverage, savings, waste, and performance), Recommendations, and Resource Inventory. See Commitments.
Display currency
Choose a display currency from the user menu to see cost pages converted with your configured exchange rates. Rates are managed under Settings > Currency Conversion.
Cost allocation in Cost Explorer
The Cost Allocation data set in Cost Explorer adds an Allocated to dimension, so you can view allocated cost alongside billed cost. See Cost Allocation.
MFA reset
Admins can reset a user’s MFA from User Management, and users can reset their own from the user menu. Applies to database logins, not SSO.
Anomalies
The Anomalies page is back in the sidebar. See Anomalies.
June 2026
Connections page redesign
The Credentials settings page is now Connections, redesigned around compact expandable rows with at-a-glance health, a Test Connection action, and per-account status for AWS Organizations. See Manage connections.
Organizations
Tenants are now referred to as organizations throughout the platform. Switch your active organization from the sidebar via Switch Organization, and manage the organization tree under Settings > Organizations. See Switch Organization.
Simplified GCP onboarding
GCP connections no longer use the BigQuery Data Transfer Service. The bigquerydatatransfer API is no longer required, and CloudBolt now runs the daily billing export itself. You can also onboard multiple billing accounts in a single session. See Connect GCP.
Azure onboarding options
New paths for partner scenarios: MPA billing accounts can export cost data to CloudBolt-hosted storage (no storage account or subscription required in your tenant); the read-role scope can be narrowed to a specific management group or the provisioning subscription; and indirect-CSP customers can onboard individual subscriptions. See Connect Azure.
AI Spend
A new AI Spend dashboard tracks spending on AI and LLM services, including token volumes, cost per million tokens, and cache savings, by model and service. See AI Spend.
API access
Owners can create service accounts for programmatic access from the new Settings > API Keys page. The customer API is now versioned under /api/v1. See API Keys.
May 2026
Reporting enhancements
Saved reports gained folders and sharing controls, scheduled email delivery (daily, weekly, or monthly), and report exports to PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel. See Saved Reports.
AWS CloudFormation template updated
The AWS onboarding CloudFormation template has been updated with the following changes:
- Legacy CUR support removed: The template no longer creates Legacy Cost and Usage Reports. All deployments now create exports for FOCUS 1.0, FOCUS 1.2 Hourly, FOCUS 1.2 Daily, and Cost Optimization Recommendations.
- New prerequisites: Cost Explorer, Cost Optimization Hub (org-wide, including member accounts), and the
AWSServiceRoleForBCMDataExportsservice-linked role must be configured before deploying. See Configure AWS accounts. - New
TenantHostedRegionparameter: Replaces the individual OIDC configuration parameters. Select US or EU to match where your CloudBolt tenant is hosted. See CloudFormation template parameters. - Simplified outputs: Template outputs are now aligned with the CloudBolt Platform “Add AWS Credential” modal fields. See CloudFormation template outputs.
ReportToCreateparameter removed: Cost report type is no longer configurable. The four FOCUS and Cost Optimization exports are always created.StandaloneAccountrenamed toManagementAccountOnly: If you previously deployed withTargetDeploymentType=StandaloneAccount, useManagementAccountOnlyon your next update.- New
MemberAccountOnlydeployment mode: For organizations without CloudFormation StackSets enabled, deploy the template in two passes: once in the management account, then once in each member account. See Deploy without StackSets. CloudBoltStackExistclarified: Leave atfalsefor stack updates. Only settruewhen deploying a second, separate CloudBolt stack in the same account.
If you have an existing deployment using the previous template, refer to Update an existing deployment for redeployment guidance.
