# Resource names

> Set a resource name template to control the name of the deployed resource when a blueprint is ordered

If a blueprint manager does not configure this template, the resource name defaults to the blueprint name followed by a unique number. To set one, select **Edit** while managing the blueprint and fill in the **Resource Name Template** field.

The template uses the Django template format and the same uniquification scheme used elsewhere in Cloud Management Platform, such as [parameter templates](/docs/cmp/configure/order-forms-and-pricing/parameters/parameter-templates/). The available context includes:

- the blueprint itself, with all its attributes
- the requestor (the order owner)
- blueprint-level parameters whose destination includes the resource
- the group selected for the order

For example, to name the resource after the group and the value entered for a blueprint-level parameter (with a resource destination) named `ticket_number`, enter:

`{{ group.name }}-{{ ticket_number }}-00X`

When the blueprint is ordered and configured to create a resource, the deployed resource is assigned a name like "Acme-42-003".
