# Deploy with installer

> Install Cloud Management Platform (CMP) on an existing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 or Oracle Linux (OL) 8 server

This is also the recommended way to deploy in Azure.

## Prerequisites

- A dedicated server running RHEL 8 or OL 8 that meets the [Hardware guidelines](/docs/cmp/system-architecture/hardware-guidelines/). The installer removes any existing CMP data on the server.
- Root access to the server.
- The root user's `umask` set to `022`. Run `umask` to check it, and `umask 022` to set it for the current session.
- `/usr/local/bin` in the root user's `PATH`. Run `echo $PATH` to check it.
- firewalld running, if you use it.

## Download Cloud Management Platform

[Cloud Management Platform Releases](https://support.cloudbolt.io/cloudbolt/s/topic/0TO5c000001MolrGAC/releases)

1. Go to the Releases page and select the latest release.
1. Download the Installer, Upgrader, or OVA as required.

## Install Cloud Management Platform

1. Copy the installer (`.tgz` file) to `/var/tmp` on the server.
1. Switch to the root user:

   ```bash
   sudo su -
   ```

1. If SELinux is in enforcing mode, set it to permissive for the install. Run `getenforce` to check the mode.

   ```bash
   setenforce 0
   ```

1. Extract the installer and run it. Replace `<installer_name>` with the installer file name without `.tgz`, for example, `cloudbolt_installer_v2026.3.78`.

   ```bash
   cd /var/tmp
   tar xvf <installer_name>.tgz
   cd <installer_name>
   ./install_cloudbolt.sh
   ```

   When prompted, enter **Y** to confirm. The installer runs in air-gapped mode by default. To download packages from the CloudBolt repository instead, add `--remote`.

1. Wait for the success message. The installer saves its log in `/var/log/cloudbolt/install/`.
1. If you changed the SELinux mode, set it back to enforcing:

   ```bash
   setenforce 1
   ```

1. In a browser, go to *https://\<server address\>* and [complete initial setup](/docs/cmp/get-started/complete-initial-setup/).

If the installer stops, it prints the reason, such as the `umask` or SELinux check. Fix the issue and run the installer again. For other errors, contact [CloudBolt support](/docs/cmp/support/).

If firewalld was stopped during the install, the installer could not open HTTP and HTTPS. Start firewalld and open them:

```bash
systemctl start firewalld
firewall-cmd --zone=public --permanent --add-service=http --add-service=https
firewall-cmd --reload
```
