## Deploy from OVA

### Download the OVA

[Cloud Management Platform Releases](https://support.cloudbolt.io/cloudbolt/s/topic/0TO5c000001MolrGAC/releases)

1. Go to the Releases page and select the latest release.
1. Download the Installer, Upgrader, or OVA as required.

### Deploy the OVA

See [Deploying an OVA to VMware vSphere](https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/vsphere/vsphere/9-1/vsphere-virtual-machine-administration/deploying-ovf-templates.html) and [Deploying OVA via Citrix XenCenter](https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/xencenter/7-1/vms-import-ovf.html).

## Configure the appliance

### Core configuration

1. Connect to the VM using your Virtualization Manager (for example, VMware vSphere or Citrix XenServer).
1. Log in to the VM console. The default values for username and password are 'root/cloudbolt'.
1. Configure the VM's network settings:

**Skip this step if using CMP in a DHCP environment.**

   - Set the fully qualified domain name (FQDN):
     - Press ENTER to set the FQDN.
     - Press ENTER to accept.
   - Set the IP address:
     - Use the arrow keys to go to **IP Address** and press ENTER.
     - Confirm the IP address.
     - Press ENTER to accept.
   - Repeat for subnet mask, gateway, primary DNS, secondary DNS, and SELinux mode (default: permissive).

### Configure CSMP collector (optional)

To use the appliance as a VMware data collector for CSMP, select **CSMP Collector** in the **Appliance Mode** section of the appliance configurator. See [VMware data collector configuration](/docs/cmp/configure/integrations/cost-and-security-management/vmware-data-collector/).

## Finish configuration

1. Press ENTER or select RUN to complete configuration. The appliance will configure and start services.
1. When prompted, enter the new root password.
1. Log in to your appliance: `https://<IP Address>` to [complete the initial configuration](/docs/cmp/get-started/complete-initial-setup/) in your browser.

### Install SSL certificates (optional)

To configure certificates on your appliance, see [SSL certificates](/docs/cmp/configure/access-and-security/security/ssl-certificates/).
